Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires.

They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market

very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not

work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on

existing technology:

A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats...

SCAN DOWN & SEE.

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of

Michelin. It will be awhile before they are available to the

automotive industry.

Wonder what happens to these in the snow and ice. Seems like they would get pretty heavy once completely clogged up.

I'd bet that what you see in the photos are prototypes - designed so you can see the inner workings. The actual product will likely have a thin sidewall molded to them to prevent the problems you're talking about.

How would you balance this tire

I wonder what they will come up with to balance this tire.I think it would be butt ugly on a motorcycle, but it sure would be interesting....Jim

They have been using tires similar to this on fork lifts for years.
