Question. I have the opportunity to rent a bike in Costa Mesa while at a client convention this Thursday the 15th and wondering what to reserve. They have a new Wing, but I thought it would be a good time to test a Harley, which I have never ridden. If you were going to rent a ride for a day, which Harley would you rent or would you get the Wing and enjoy the mid winter ride!

I live in Chicago and we just got 10 inches of snow and four more on the way tomorrow, so winter riding here is rare. The route we are taking is being led by a employee of a local client of mine, and working our way down to San Diego for lunch and then back. I saw that the PCH was on the route as well.

The client convention I am attending is at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach, so I only have this one day for fun stuff and the client arranged everything. There will 8 of us riding.

If any local board members are around, I am free for dinner Thursday or Friday if you are interested in chatting-meeting for some BBQ, if any, around there.

Thanks.

PM me. I now live in Costa Mesa. Where is it you're going to be renting from? I know you could likely meet up with several people on this board if you want to meet at Wing Stuff. There are lots of good places to ride around here, and the weather has been gorgeous the past few days. While some were shoveling their driveways, we've been trying to decide if we should turn on the AC. Temps are in the 80's again today at the coast.

It doesn't matter which you rent. You'll have a blast either way.

It is going to be a perfect day for riding Thursday. If you have all day, a ride to Julian or Palm Springs would be awesome. Shorter rides include;
1. PCH to Dana Point Harbor and San Juan Capistrano with lunch at The Cliffs in Laguna Beach
2. Ortega Highway and Cooks Corner
3. Pala or Pechanga Indian Casinos through Fallbrook, near Temecula (could include Ortega Highway)

Let us know how far you want to ride and we can do a route or two for you. Too bad its Thursday or I could show you the way. I gotta work.

Hey thanks all. I am riding with a group of one of my clients which is the day before their convention kicks off (I am a vendor). There will 7 or 8 of us and a local guy has the route planned already. Riding down to near San Diego for lunch and as said, the PCH is part of the route. We are renting from Extreme Dream Riders in Costa Mesa on a special all in deal with insurance and helmet.

If anyone wants to grab a beer or something one night, let me know. I will be there Wed, Thur and Fri nights leaving Sat afternoon. And if being there wasn't enough, I fly out to Miami early Sunday for a golf outing at Doral with another client and then a meeting on Monday. Back to Chicago late Monday and then to Memphis Tuesday and Wednesday for yet another client meeting. Jan is hell for me with another trip to PA the week of the 26th and then, finally, to St Martin for two weeks of R&R on the 31st. Nice work if you can find it, eh?

Perhaps will run into one of you somewhere....

OK. Took the ride, what great weather you guys have! Anyway, after talking with some fellow riders, and having never ridden a Harley for any length of time, I rented the Street Glide. Let's just say that I WILL NEVER, EVER, OWN ONE OF THESE. Not a good fit for me.

Now the ride itself, was a real treat. Started out on PCH towards San Diego, on to 5 around the army base, back onto PCH and made a few stops, one in a park. PCH some more then onto 5 to get into downtown San Diego. Went to the Nimmetz and took some pics, then over to an area on the water with a lot of shops and food courts for lunch. Then on to Coronado and the hotel. Back on 5 up to an exit where some of the guys had to get back for a meeting, the rest of us did the PCH back up. We were out for 10 hours and did about 350 miles. Had a blast, but will get the Wing the next time.

I am really jealous of you guys getting to ride in that kind of weather year round. Too bad there is so much traffic. Of course, i am sure we could have gone into areas that are not as busy with traffic, but a great time none the less!!!!

Now back at home, safe and sound, back to the Wing, and back to the wonderful weather and riding conditions that only Chicago can provide.;)
