I bought a new 2006 GL 1800 Triked with a champion kit in March. I now have 11,100 an get 26 mpg up to 65 MPH. 70/75/80 on interstate I get 16 to 20.
Rode 400 miles today interstate with a friend an a champion 2003. He was pulling a trailer, 2 up and I was 2 up about 76mph most of the way.. He got 30/31 mpg and I got 19 & 20.
Took it back to dealer 3 weeks ago; they checked it over and said they couldn't find a problem that would cause low mileage.
Help! Mac

Don't know if I can "help", but I can say that this last year's vaction was 2 up and either around town, oor about 90 on the interstate. We were loaded to the gills with weight and at the end the average MPG was 42. When I ride with DeputyDawg I need gas before he does, so he gets even better. Don't think the dealer is straight on this one. Good luck

What's your rpm at 60/70/80? When they replace the final drive with the differential, it changes the gear ratio - maybe the wrong way?

mileage

I realize that it is a different manufacturer, but Lehman says in their FAQ that a trike will lose about 10-20% of gas mileage. Most Wingers I know report 36-42 as an average (uncorrected). Based on that you should be looking at about 28-29 on the low end. However, I have seen factors such as riding style, tire pressure and even windshield height has a dramatic effect. My '06 has averaged 40 MPG (I keep a log) over the first 27K miles. High was 50 MPG at a steady 45 MPH in Yellowstone, low was 32 MPG at 80+ into a headwind in Colorado.
