I'm about to put a new pair of tires on a 2008 Airbag model. Currently have Bridgestone 704/709 combo. They are very quiet and I have never had a traction issue with the 704/709 combo, even in Florida rain. They are just past 10K miles. Front is 2/32" and rear is about 1.5/32" The reason they wore out evenly and with that many miles is that I'm primarily a front brake person and I also read traffic lights much farther in advance than most people but usually out accelerate the cages around me when the light turns green.
Local dealer is trying to get me to try E4s. My only experience with Dunlops in the past was E3s which I found to be noisy in turns and I have lost a little traction with the E3s. Also our bike originally had a Dunlop 250 combo which I couldn't wait to wear out (in fact I think I replaced them early).
Has Dunlop improved with the E4? Noise? Traction? What's with that funky tread design; how do you know where the wear bars are? I'm guessing I can ride a little farther than with the Bridgestone's?
I'm not an aggressive rider most of the time. Also 80-90% of our riding is on straight, boring and often wet Florida roads but when we have the chance to get into the hills I like quiet and confident tires!
Any thoughts welcome.
