Cheaper then life/hospital stay 🍷🍷🍷🤓🤓🤓. However, by your photo, the dealer will make a nice list for parts needed for the insurance company, also I would take it to a well know Honda dealer who has good traffic of wings. They will need to check the steering/stem and alignment too. That big rat hit you in a vulnerable area.

I will not be showing my wife this thread. She is already worried about my 50 mile morning commute on the interstate in the dark at 80 mph. Deer are my biggest concern at 5:00 am on my way to the office. I just today have read on this site about electronic deer whistles...

Glad to hear you're upright and not injured....... (y)
It's one of those hazards that come with motorcycling.......be as safe as possible and be prepared for the unexpected.

Please let us know how it goes with bike repairs....

Stinkin' forest rats.

Glad you stayed up and the bike seems to be relatively unhurt besides plastic.

Glad you are ok... from the looks of the bike you had someone watching out for you. This is the second incident I have read today on deer and Goldwing's. Both of the wings were blue. I'm thinking deer see them as a threat and are trying to take them out. Maybe they will total your bike and you can get a new color.

Personally I doubt whistles work. Lots of riders including me used them on Wings in Texas Hill Country around Austin back in the 90s. We still had occasional near misses.

The problem is that the deer don’t really hear the approaching vehicle so how could they hear a whistle? On top of that the deer are invincibly stupid and do not apparently have herd memory of cars and their danger.

This is more like road debris. Sometimes we hit a pothole and break something.

Glad to hear you made it out ok too. I hit a deer in Rockville MD back in the 90's on my first bike which was an 81 Suzuki GS850G. Middle of winter, roads were plowed but snow everywhere else, middle of the night on some backroads and I was barely 18. Thank god that bike was a tank, the deer leaped across the road right in front of me and I hit it in the ass end, deer flew off to the side and the bike kept going straight. Although I immediately pulled over and had about 3 cigarettes...

Was always wondering if they really work.
Hornet works.
Three times I’ve had running deer swerve hard away from me; once at interstate speeds.
Once I was stopped on a backroad to check the map app….approached by two large dogs, growling, not barking. I switched on the Hornet while they were 40-50’ out, and coming fast.
They switched directions immediately , and both went back and got under their porch.

Got zero faith in any other deer whistle I’ve ever seen. This one has personally saved me some grief.
Just remember to switch it off before you turn in your driveway, if you have dogs.

Very interesting!!! I, honestly never new you can get it electric. Its worth the 90.00, if it does work. We have a big problem with the rats here in NJ. When I do the 6am shift, no speeding at that time, for sure. I saw articles on the plastic glued on and its all BS. That's why I stayed away from them. Is it mounted in the front of your bike?

Yes.
Pointed downward at 45*.
At idle speed, the whistling is just audible.
I don’t care.

Very little current draw….I used a 5A fuse and tiny toggle switch.
Cool, thanks. I am on the website. 10ma is nothing. I will run it to the fuse box, ACC, no switch. No dogs in the house, except me, at times.

Sorry but I laugh at the thought that deer whistles work. No whistle is stopping a running deer from crossing the road. Most likely that deer was flushed out of the woods by something if it appeared that fast. This time of year it could have been a shed hunter, coyote, or just got spooked. I lived in Glen Rock PA for 30 years and I know exactly the area you ride, I hit 2 deer with my truck in north Baltimore county.
Well I met a man that had those electric ones on his 1800 GW I ask what is that and he told me then I ask does it work and he told me I live and ride in a area that seem like a Deer reserve his bike was a year and a half old and he had road it 75K and he said I have not hit one yet and he see them grazing on the side of the road all the time, and what he told me was it will not make them run but the sound is not white noise like traffic to them and they stop and look to see were the sound is coming from and that is exactly what it does, I saw this more than once for myself while riding.
