I am getting close to changing the oil in my 2002 GL1800A. The bike has a Chrome Rear Lower Cowl as well as the Chrome Front Lower Cowl. My question is do either one or both of these pieces have to be removed before I can get to the oil filter?

No need to remove the lower cowl, you can get to the filter without taking it off.

None have to be removed. I bought a filter wrench especially for the Wing, about $10. Just slip on and trun. Same when going back on.
