I hestiate to call it a leak as I don't want to start a war.

Shows between the rear of the transmission, and the output shaft.
Not loosing a huge amount of oil yet but enough to leave a 6 inch spot on the garage floor when parked.

Anyone else experienced this ? Big job or small ?

I'd rather have my local shop do the repair but if it's big and expensive I'll take it back to the US shop that sold it to have it done under warranty.

I had the same thing on my 02. I thought it was just a itsy bitsy smigin of a leak. Then I pulled my boot back from the drive shaft and holy cow! The rear output shaft seal was BAD! Cost about $180 to have the shop put in a new one. It sure got everything wet up around it. Pull the boot back and check there first. Good luck.

Bash.

6 inch puddle sounds like a leak to me. Get it in for warranty repair. What are you riding? A Honda Davidson? :D

Took it to my mechanic and did a little poking around.

It is NOT the drive shaft seal as this area under the boot is bone dry.

It does look like the gasket where the water pump joins the engine. Water pump replacement is a 2.1 hr job [according to Honda] so I think I'll try for a local repair rather than a trip to the US.
