Is it a good alternative to not having a trailor yet having more room to pack on a trip?

Have to agree with you,,
We have one for those short weekend rides so we don't have to tow our trailer all the time,,,
It was well worth cost... We also got the cooler with it. That gets used a lot..

Pakit-Rak

I put one on last Spring and used it to haul a 3-person tent, ground sheet, pegs and a small hammer. Worked well, no problem on the bike. The rain cover had a small tear developing on one front corner (nearest the bike) where there was no reinforcing in the material, unlike the rear of the cover which was reinforced. We decided that we'd rather be off the ground, so we bought a used tent trailer and sold the pakit-rak to a fellow GWRRA member. It's ideal for carrying extra "stuff".

if you already have a trailer hitch

try a cooler rack and a waterproof weekend bag from nelson riggs

the pakit bag is also made by nelson riggs , but IS NOT waterproof

I use a similar product from Rivco, I didn't see a trailer in our future so went with small rack and bag. I works well for adding extra room, don't even know it's back there.
