My new trike (the GW was gently used with 6032 miles) has some acid marks from those dreaded love bugs. Will Pam spray hurt the clear coat?

and

If I can use the Pam - after riding (sometimes the next day) will the hydrogen perioxide remove the remaining bugs and Pam spray without harming the finish?

Hi,
Not sure about Pam Spray, but during the "bug" season or in prep for a long ride, I apply a generous coating of an "armour all" type spray on all the front surfaces.
The bugs wash off easy and I have had no paint damage (even after baking in the sun).
I even use the stuff on my wheels. The brake dust and grime wash right off with soap and water.
Hope this helps even though it doesnt answer your question.
Aloha,
Dan

Pam not only will not work for love bugs but it will liquify in the sunlight and run up your windshield driving you nuts.
But it will make the bugs lighter and fluffier as well as tasty. And best of all is low in saturated fats. :p

I have NO idea of the perils of Luv Bugs; but spraying Pam and Armour All or Plexis, Lemon Pledge, etc. and such requires that you protect your brake rotors and pads against the inevitible over spray and drift. Cover those prats with kraft paper or similar before you spray.

I really prefer to use the butter flavored Pam spray. Then I seek out the love bugs. But have also found that when riding in the north, it gives the june bugs a nice mild flavor. Hoping Pam comes out with a butter and lemon flavor.

Laugh if you want, but when I lived in New Orleans and traveled the Florida panhandle a cheap cooking spray was the only way to prevent damage to your paint. We sprayed that stuff on all leading surfaces; hood, bumper, grill, mirror backs, window trim, etc. When we got home a high pressure spray from the garden hose and a little soap and water rinsed it all away.

I live in So. La.. love bugs are a nusiance twice a year... try Saran wrap
or one of the sticky kitchen wrap... i apply it .. ride until it gets covered
then peel it off trash can it and re-apply more.. it does not hurt paint, windshield or anything else...

Sorry, but I live in California and have no idea what a "love bug" is. Will someone clue me in please? (and no rude comments about Californians never having a clue). Posting a link describing this little critter would be even more appreciated. Thanks.

It only becomes a problem when you leave them on and then wash them off. The trick is, don't wash them off. It may drive the neat nics crazy, but for the rest of us that are badges of honor.

I have had love bugs so thick on the headlight of my Valkyrie that you could not see any light shine through, that's the extreme. The bug juice eats through clear coat in about 48 hours so you have to wash them off every day if you want to keep your paint looking good. I tried the pam thing on my truck several years ago and it slid right up my windshield, where is scopes when you need it?
