Finally got some pics of my trunklight mod. Light is a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee under hood light, about $18..
Ran wires to hot wire between trunk liner and wired light direct. Has a ball switch to turn light on-off.
Removed connector terminals at the light,and resoldered wires directly to the contacts inside.

trunk light

Hey Randy,

did you get the light from a dealer or junk yard?

Where did you pick up the power from?

How is it working?

Bought at a Jeep dealer, power wire already there under trunk.

Works great!!

Good ideas here. All ways work good.

Power is at the RED/YELLOW wire between the inner and outer trunk lid. It has a connector for the Honda Optional Vanity mirror/light. It is hot anytime the battery is hooked up.

I used a six white LED from super bright LEDs and an old mercury switch from and old Honeywell thermostat to switch it. No profile under the trunk lid, takes up NO ROOM at all.
