FACT-87% of the riders polled have never had a blowout on their Goldwing tire. This proves you statement wrong Tom.
Actually 13% failure rate is a bit scary.
REMEMBER:
THIS POLL IS COMPLETELY SKEWED, AND THE RESULTS ARE INSIGNIFICANT.
People replied "YES", to having blowouts on GL1100s, GL1200s, GL1500s.
People also replied "YES" who had blowouts after running over objects in the road.
People also replied "YES" who had smashed into holes, and ledges.
People also replied "YES" who had only had flats.
And yes, people even replied "YES" that had blowouts after riding 100mph on the freeway for several hours on a bald tire!!!
NONE OF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH WHAT THE POLL WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT, WHICH IS, DO GL1800s WITH SERVICEABLE TIRES ON THEM, DRIVEN LEGALLY AND SANELY ON PAVED ROADS RANDOMLY HAVE TIRES BLOW OUT?
NO, THEY DON'T!!!
We did that poll, and in spite of a couple of people purposely crossing into that poll to taint it, it showed that LESS THAN 6% of GL1800 owners had ever experienced a real blow out.
I also calculated that based on average mileage on GL1800s, that roughly 3 BILLION MILES have been logged on GL1800s.
It seems the odds are likely SOME tire failures will occur in 3 BILLION MILES!!!!
I will post a poll right now, to see what percentage of automobile drivers have ever experienced a blow out while using car tires on their cars.
I bet it's going to be more than 6%.
