I've been thinking about having my Wing's cylinder covers powder coated a gloss black to emphasize the chrome center piece. If it's not feasible please let me know.

My questions are these:
1. Have you had it done?
2. How much?
3. Any problems or pitfalls to avoid?
4. Do I need to replace the gasket when I take the covers off?
5. Would you post a picture of the results?

Glad you brought up the question of powder coating.

I've been thinking about having my wheels and exhaust covers done too.
Is powder coating expensive? I need to try and find a place near me that will do it.

I had my wheels powder coated wet black to compliment my yellow wing here in Jax. Cost per wheel, $60.00. The outfit that did the work had a few problems with outgassing from the wheel but did a good job in the end.

look up jet-hot coating on yahoo or google, it's the same as powder coating, but can withstand higher tempatures without discoloration.

gmk1800: Are you recommending jet-hot coating instead to powder coating the covers due to heat?

Still need to hear from somebody who's had the engine cylinger covers done. I'd be real nervious to be the first...

TJ did his in a gloss black to match the black wing, they look great. Right now he's up north chasing Bambi, but ask him here, or on the Florida Valkyrie board (VRCC.com, Florida regional board). As I recall it wasn't too expensive and really looks great.
