powder coated wheels

Just got my wheel back from being powder coated. They did the entire wheel including the inside. Is this going to cause any problems? Somewhere I thought I read something about it was not a good idea to have the rim powder coated where the tire seals.

No, shouldn't be a problem. Mount them and have fun.

On the front rim, I hope there was no coating where the wheel bearings go. If there is, you have a problem. Also, check the threads where the rotors mount. If the threads have any coating on them, chase the threads with a tap before you re-install the rotors.
I asked my powder coater when i had mine down about masking the inside of the rim along with the rotor bolt holes and bearing seats. He said that it would be easier for him to just powder coat the inside of the rim rather than trying to mask it. He said he has done many many rims and no one had any problem with the tire not seating. i've had two tires on mine now with no problems.
Had my PC guy mask where the bearings go, anything that is threaded, and anything that a bolt goes through. He did PC the inside of the rim.

Against my advice, he also applied PC over the valve stem hole. Two minutes of work with a Dremel tool fixed this when I installed my Ariete valve stems.

Enjoy your PC rims and don't sweat the small stuff. It is just that much easier to clean where the bead seats each time you change tires :joke:
I would chase the rotor threads anyway just to make sure they are good to go; these are critical fasteners and you don't want any galling or binding when installing the rotor bolts.

Good point!
PC Wheels

Picked up my wheels today. Originally they were going to be two colored with the inserts color matched to my Illusion Red. My son checked on them a while back and they just did not come out right. He said the color looked very good, but just did not match close enough. We gave up on the two tone and went with just one color, it was called chrome. They did a pretty good job, not pefect but not too bad either. Cost was 110.00 for both wheels.
