I am contemplating having the fellow that does my powder coating do our front rim. Does anyone have any experience with a powder coated rim? Any suggestions about what I should look out for? Remember - this is the wifes bike and I have more or less convinced her to go this route so if it goes wrong I will have to hear about it for a very long time.

I've run powder coated wheels on Harleys for years with good results and I'm thinking of getting the wheels on my GW done as well. Good powdercoating is durable (but softer than chrome) and smooth enough that brake dust doesn't stick too badly. In my experience it isn't a hose-the-brake-dust-off solution, but it doesn't take much of a wipe to get it off.

I have a friend that powder coated the rims on his 1500 trike and he loved it. I just wasn't crazy about the color he choose.
