First of all, I need to clear up my "joke".
That is NOT ME riding the bike. I forgot that though I have many friends on this board that could tell through the helmet and gear that the rider was certainly not Lazyboy (I'm thicker than he is....hell, my leg is thicker than he is), many many more of you do not know me. I apologize for the misunderstanding, I was not trying to mislead.
Secondly, you betcha, a Busa or a ZX-14 (or any sport bike 600 and up) would kill the King in the twisties, and the Busa and ZX-14 probably edge it in the quarter, although with the figures given, it looks like the King would be hard to beat stoplight to stoplight. (They're within tenths in the quarter, depending on whose test you believe, so with the extreme penalty the King pays at the end of the strip due to a total lack of aerodynamics, it probably hooks up a little better at the beginning.
Also, the issue is moot for those of us who can no longer endure the torture rack of the "sport bike" position. I was most interesting in the ZX-14, and would have had one last month if the deal hadn't fallen through, but Lazygirl kept reminding me of how I sounded like an old man whenever I'd come back from a Gixxer ride. A bike is supposed to make you feel like a kid.
Any "Generalist" will give points to the specialist on the specialists specialty. That's sort of a "DUH".
What's amazing about the King is how good it is at so many things.
With the fully faired Wing, I decided against the Connie and Feejer, other excellent generalists, mainly because they're closer to the Wing. I wanted to try something with a clean air stream again.
Additionally, a Busa will cost you at least $3,000 more right now. Lastly, I'm just scratching an itch. I fondly remember the standard bike position. I first crossed this country in 1965 on a YDS3 250 Yamaha, and had standard bikes until the mid eighties, when I first gave in to the lure of the weird alice Katana, and then the Gixxers.
I'm looking for fun here. There is a small chance that I would not realize the ultimate performance numbers of these bikes anyway, since none of them were designed for a 60 year old fat man.
This is a Wing board. Thank you for your patience. I just wanted to share my enthusiasm, and I know that many of you are very knowledgeable about bikes in general, so this may be of general interest to the board.
Now back to our regularly scheduled crush washer discussion.
