I just received my refurb zumo yesterday. I finally was able to get it registered(minor problems with serial number) and just finished loading the map updates. I turned the unit off and then it would not turn back on. I had to remove the battery and then reinstall the battery and it would work fine. This happened once in the work van today also. When I talked to the guy at Garmin support I told him about it not turning on and he said I did the correct thing by taking the battery out. Is this something common or is this something to be concearned about? Thanks in advance. Mike

I've had mine about two years now and close to 10,000 miles of use, have never had to take the battery out, I don't even know where the battery is!!!!!!! I would say there was something not right with your unit. Good Luck.

We've had it happen twice with ours and I've had five DOA Zumo 550s that I exchanged for new units before forwarding them on to the customer.

It's a problem that is common only in older units. You can read about the fix over in www.zumoforums.com
