Hi,
I'm getting ready to install a Uniden R7 radar detector and a Garmin Zumo 595LM GPS on my '18 'Wing, and I'll be wearing a Shoei Neotech II with the SRL headset.
I plan on sending GPS directions via BT from the Zumo, and Music via BT from my iPhone, to my headset.
Do you know if I'll receive a radar alert in the headset if I plug one end of an audio cable into the R7's 3.5mm "audio-out" receptacle and the other end of the cable into the Zumo's 3.5 mm "stereo line-in audio" cable receptacle?
And if this would work, can you adjust the Zumo to have this alert mute the GPS's directions when a radar alert occurs?
Lastly, and though I think less likely, could there even be a way to mute the iPhone's music when a radar alert occurs?

I don't know the SRL but as a point of reference, most later Senas will, if you pair the GPS correctly as a GPS (it can be tricky), prioritize GPS direction over the A2DP media stream.

595 has audio in, not mic in? Hmmm. Another one out of my lane but that won't stop a guess. I suspect if it really is audio in, then you have to have it selected and playing as the audio source. And, if so, that may confuse all the other signals coming in to the headset -- is the radar cum audio cum GPS stream the priority #1 that squelches everything?

In short, I suspect you're screwed. Much like many of my "this ought to work" ideas in the past that, if they every work, only do so intermittently and with great fragility. I hope I'm wrong!! Please document and share it if I am.

You might get some mileage out of the MixIt2 thing.

The Zumo does have a 2.5mm microphone socket. Can you explain how this will help?
If I did use the GPS as a music source, then the "directions" should mute the music. If this is true, and I don't use the GPS for the music-audio source, (my phone is for that), then perhaps the audio-in from the radar detector would still allow for the "directions" to be heard, and then they'd only be muted when a radar alert occurred.

I had the full Kennedy/CellSet system on a '08 wing, and may have had the Mixit2 as well, but I can't recall.
With everything now BT on the my bike and helmet, how would you integrate the MixIt2 into this system to achieve the results I'm looking for?

Re 2.5mm mic in -- I'm not saying it will help. My zumo harness experience is there is the mic in and the 3.5 mm line out (i.e. from zumo). Neither of which are directly what you want here for your purposes. You mentioned a 3.5 line in (radar out into zumo) which I've not seen (don't have a 595, didn't look up the harness).

As for music source -- what I was referring to is IF your GPS has a line in, then you'll need to tell it to listen to the line in (use it as the audio source) so that the line in feeds into its audio out (via BT in your case). And it may be tough for the receiving unit to tell whether the signal it is getting from the GPS is GPS directions or GPS radar (both alerts you want) or GPS line in blank because radar is not alerting right now but which plays as a silent alert.

I have a CellSet, too. I've set it up so that it pumps my GPS (nuvi 2797, no headset BT) into the bike audio and I hear it through Aux to the speakers. I do not have, but may get, a MixIt2 (or just try a Y cable) to get radar alerts the same way. The Escort Smartphone app is unreliable and keeps dropping so I cannot rely on it going to my helmet headset via phone media A2DP pairing. I'd care more if I used it more. The other option, instead of alert via speakers, is to run the line outs to a Sena SM10 which has two line ins and doesn't necessarily need the MixIt2. Then you can't play it via Aux Speakers but you can get it in your helmet via A2DP.

So I don't have the answer in place yet and working flawlessly for me. I just have more experience not getting there.

I use a areostitch Mix-It2 Audio Mixer with zumo 665 with xm. radar detector, zumo plugs into mixer and run output to aux in. installed mixer in left side pocket. works great.

The rep at Garmin today said my planned setup will work with no issues. The only "issue" is that when the "directions" are being spoken the GPS will mute a simultaneous detector alert. Seems like a unlikely event, and in the worst case, still a worthy tradeoff.
