I like the idea but would like to know what experiences someone has had with these.

Agree with the but ugly, wouldnt put one on my wing no matter what it did. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder i guess
Wise words of a single person; or one that sleeps on the couch.....A Lot ..:doorag:
I didn't know these existed until this post either ... so my opinion is based on what've I've seen here.
I'll echo butt-ugly.
And I have a question for those who have installed it ... what's it supposed to do for the rider or passenger?
OK, I understand the concept of a windshield. I also understand the airfoils that trucks (and some SUV's) have for towing large trailers.
But a Goldwing? Are you trying to create a quiet pocket of air behind the bike in order to get better gas mileage, or ...???
Mine does cut a little air turbalance by the knees, passenger does help more around shoulder air flow. Tough to catch the two hook clips when installing. Only lightly snug mounting screws. It is on, and leaving it there. Feels like a convertible auto now. Cannot say a big differance, just some.
They are not Ugly! they are FUGLY!

Worthless without a chromed, louvered belly pan.... :clap2: I vote to merge this thread with the belly pan thread..... :coffee1:

have you ever seen a High end sport car with a screen behind the seat .same thing . trying to create a quiet pocket of air for the PASSENGER.

nope, I have never noticed that ... and I'm still having a problem understanding (likely just my fried brain on a Friday afternoon). I can understand a pocket of still air BEHIND a barrier ... but have a hard time envisioning one IN FRONT of a barrier ... especially one that would be mostly covered by the passenger anyway (unless your passenger is a child or a munchken). Since the passenger seat is higher than the rider's, the passenger is usually high enough to see over the riders shoulder.

I think it may be to try to eliminate the vortex that comes from the rear of the bike, over the trunk and creates buffetting on the passanger. It is a common effect with convertables and pick-ups and jeeps. There is some turbualnce that whirls back up and over the passanger from the rear of the bike. JMO
Well it got here.. A straight forward install that took about 35 minutes with out the proper bit size ( had to use an Excato knife to make the holes the right size) Went right on, it does look Funky, but it will be Mama's decision weather it is worth the 91 bucks :!: The hardest thing was getting the seat back, back on. Not that much clearance with the foil thing on there. I will most likely have some sort of report over this week end, or it will show up on the Classified section

George, I'm down in Eastland and come to Graham regularly (all my inlaws live there) and would love to look at the foil. I am considering one if it will make my wife's ride better! I will hollar before I come that way and maybe I can look at yours. If you dont like it, I may want to buy it and give it a try.

The configuration of the wing's fairing and shield causes a negative air pressure pocket behind the shield which draws air from behind to fill the void. Less pressure inside more outside so it tries to equalize. Since this is a constant process while you are moving, it causes what I call

If you click the flaming word, it will take you to a page with more info.

If you've ever ridden with anyone who does not wear a helmet, you can see this in action because unlike other bikes, you will see your friend's hair being blown forward and not backward. I have a Gerbings jacket liner that worked absolutely fine for all my bikes since '88 or so when I got it. The heating elements are down the front of the arms and in the chest/belly area. With the wing, it's useless because where I get cold is on the back and under the arms & there are no heating elements there.

Best I can do in a short dissertation. This pressure differential is what the Windbender windshield is designed to eliminate. So does the AIRFOIL in this thread so they say.

Simple demonstration for you. Wear a jacket with a hood and leave the hood down. When you are riding, the hood will start slapping your head from behind.

The Trike is parked on Second Street by the shop on the square if the weather is half way decent :doorag:

It isn't just high end sports cars. They are available for many convertibles, even Miata's. I have driven my friend's MX5, and we both have the same sentiment that it does help, but it is nothing earth shattering. It does more than eliminate the backdraft. It keeps the pocket of air coming over the top of the windshield from collapsing too fast, and it is a little less violent.

I don't think you will see the same improvement on a motorcycle with the relatively small surface area. You can't compare the two.
They are butt ugly and won't sell enough to keep the product in their lineup of accessories
I would think you would know better than that by now Laen.:p Goldwing owners follow a few simple rules about accessories.

1. When they already have every other accessory known to man installed on their bike, they go into convulsions if they can't find something else to buy and install on their bike.

2. Goldwing owners can't stand someone having something that they don't have.

3. Goldwing owners don't stop installing accessories until their bikes look like a Tijuana Taxi.

I am really amazed that I haven't seen dingle balls, fuzzy dice, and bobble head dolls on a Goldwing yet. (I am sure there is one out there however.)
Why don't you just do this, and be done with it?

Larry I am sure most are saying "where's the chrome."
Good post Larry. No.1 kinds applies to me but when I run out of things to fit to a Wing, it's time to buy a new one. ;)

Ohhhhh Ohhhh I like this :!: wonder where I can get one :yes1:
