I was looking at the rear hitch from wingstuff for my 2016 gl800. Does anyone have experience with this hitch? Has anyone installed one? Thanks

That's Kuryakyn SKU: KU7641 I do not have any experience with that Kuryakyn hitch. I personally would not use it because it attaches to the Saddlebag Stay instead of a 4 point frame mount Trailer Hitch. But plenty of others are using that Kuryakyn Hitch! I agree with lyle. Get the Rivco or Bushtec hitch. Both are 4 point main frame mounts.

If your considering a hitch, then that means you'll need wiring for trailer lights. Get an Isolator harness. It will prevent any trailer wiring malfunction from screwing up the bikes electrics.

According to the Rivco site the 2008 hitch will not fit his 2016 bike. Maybe it is because of the saddlebags on the 2016?

is that the hitch itself that wont fit or 2012 and newer take longer reciever ? Think mine was from 08 ( now on 2014) but had to use longer reciever bar

I don't know, When I ordered mine their were ones for 2001 to 2010 and 2012 through 2017. It could be as simple as the tongue! If the 2008 fits yours it may be that simple!

frames all the same . Bags on 2012 and newer longer so need longer tongue to clear

I purchased and installed SKU:AO451806A from Wingstuff and have been very happy with it, it is solid and mounts nicely to the frame and it is a hidden style hitch, for those times you don't have anything connected to the hitch. I recently used it with a Cooler rack filed with ICE and drinks and traveled over 3500 miles and no complaints! BTW-I have a 2015 AC

If you need to wire in the electrical, lookup M61A1MECH on this board, he can get you a nice adapter that keeps you from having to splice your factory cables!

I've been using that hitch on two different wings for a lot of miles and never had an issue.
