My wife no longer rides with me, so am considering using the rear seat for luggage. I've looked at a few on-line, and narrowed it down to the four below. Does anybody have experience with these? Or any other seat bag they might recommend? 2012 GL1800. TIA

A couple of things to consider.

If you wife is no longer going you are going to have more room.
Do you really need more stuff on your trips?
Those bags are rarely secure storage from thieves.

THIS IS THE BIGGIE, can you open the trunk lid with those bags on the rear seat? It's a real P.I.A. to have to remove that bag every time you want something in the trunk.

I used a Torrent bag by First Gear last year, and it was great. Fit right on the passenger seat and strapped down. Plenty of tie downs to cable it through the hand rails if you're worried about that sort of thing.

Many riders use "Saddleman Products" because of there price and quality and engineering. I use the BR3400 because of its versatility.

https://www.cyclegear.com/search?_utf8=✓&query=br3400&commit=Search

Can be used on seat or a back pack or on a pak-it rack set-up, comes with a multitude of different straps too mount it just about anywhere. comes with backrest and rain cover, 3400 cu inches of storage space, not counting outer pockets.

This is what I have and I have two of them. One 70 liter that I use on my BMW R1200GS (backrest and seatbag). and one 40 liter (I had to buy a new one when the 70l was damaged during an accident. Only lost the end tie down loop) The 40l works perfect on the back seat of the wing. Use the two end rings and have bungees around the grab handles and all you have to do is undo two hooks and throw the shoulder strap over you should and head into a hotel or wherever you stop for the night. It has gone through week long rainstorms and stays 100% dry inside. If and when I have to change again... I will get another just like it!!!! Sorry, no pics of it on the Wing, they were lost on a computer crash with no back up. The 70L was used to go on a 4 week trip to Alaska where it got the end loop ripped out when I got hit. It finished the trip with a bungee around the bag instead of the loop. Kept dry. The 4L has been on many Wing trips including Sturgis and also in the below pics on my BMW again to Labrador, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia for 2 1/2 weeks. Also a lot of rain. (sure seems to rain a lot in Canada!) The photos below show it strapped to the top of my wet sack that holds my tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat. IF that wasn't there, it would be crosswise on the seat. This was a tall backrest and I could get the saddlebags open this way.

Something to consider: BIRDS !

As I pulled in to park, at Yellowstone's Old Faithful, I'll never forget the sight of seeing a group of unattended Harleys being picked over by a flock of Ravens!... the dang birds were actually Unstrapping the leather straps, and digging through the bag contents!
Was sure glad that I had Hard Bags/Trunks on my GL1500, LOL

I've seen and experienced similar occurrences from Raccoons too.

Sooo, you might evaluate What you want to store in that soft/accessible bag, and verify that it's not yummy food.

Some great suggestions here, but because most are motorcycle specific, that adds to the price. Check out duffle or sports bags at camping and outdoor sports stores, army/navy surplus type stores, even do a search on WalMart, ebay, and amazon for sports bags, duffle bags. I did and found some nice ones for $50 or less.

Dry Bag?

Good evening Paul
i have used a dry bag similar to this for several years.
https://www.rei.com/product/114802/sealline-discovery-deck-dry-bag-30-liters

Size is a bit bigger. It is waterproof, straps in place easy, and is easy to take into the hotel or campsite.

I have built a rack with a waterproof box that mounts on my hitch, but have not yet had it on a trip to try it out.
Good luck on the hunt.

Paul, the motorcycle bags on the market now are NOT waterproof...at least not the ones I've been able to see.
The LAST thing you need is to get caught on the Interstate carrying a non-waterproof bag on your backseat with no exit for 4 more miles and it starts raining like crazy. By the time you get to the exit to pull off an put on a raincover, you're contents of the bag are already soaked.

Check out this Cabela's waterproof bag you set on the back seat. It's 56.6 Liters, about the size of the Harley Tour Pak(60 liters): https://www.cabelas.com/product/cam...ndary-waters-duffel-bag/2398088.uts?slotId=10

I have used the below for touring with my friend around the country. Love the way it "fills" the back seat area and holds all my camping gear. I just used velcro straps to hold it to the passenger riding handles and added a strap with a snap-in clip that went through back seat opening (the slot created where the top of back seat lifts up when you open trunk) to bar under seat to hold it in place. Worked great! I see they have made a few changes to the bag, but I still have mine and love it.

I don't have any experience with the bags you have listed, but what I have used on the rear seat for the last 6 years and thousands of miles is a Saddlemens BR4100 bag and love it, It works perfectly for a backrest and I put my camelbak right in the webbing of the bag, with the tube over my shoulder and it works awesome. While I would not consider it waterproof, it is water resistant. I did treat it with some camping water repellent treatment when I first got it and have ridden through hours of rain without an issue of things getting wet inside.

Here's mine

Waterproof canoe bag. I anchored rubber tubing covered cables to the top box front wall that tuck behind the seat where the passenger backrest meets the seat.
