Can you run a 180/70/16 instead of the original 180/60/16, is there enough clearance in the wheel well

Tom Finch has been running a 70 series tire for years. Depending on year it may correct your speedo.

The 70 series will work fine. If you have a pre 2010 bike it will correct the speedometer. It will lean over a little farther on the side stand and will much easier to put on the center stand.

That's the standard VTX 1800 rear tire. I ran that 70 for many years until I went Dark.
Loved the performance and extra load rating the Bridgestone had. It also put the 2005 speedo dead on compared to the GPS.
Yes it definitely is an option.
