I know just what you mean.
I know just what you mean.At least he wasn't injured.
No speculation jumps out except general agreement that if someone over torqued the nuts, well y'all know what happens. Ouch.
Certainly possible. We have reason to suspect a bad batch of Yuasa betteries for the 2018s. Wish we had more details about what preceded this wheel's escape.They need to inspect the lug studs too. Could be Honda did a "Harley" and recently bought a lower bid batch of wheel studs that met specifications, but were of poor quality. This happens a lot in the aircraft and automotive industry.
Or similar to the recent BMW brake fiasco in which Hayes brand calipers were all recalled and replaced with (Brembos?)They need to inspect the lug studs too. I have a friend with a 1250GS that was subject to the recall. His Hayes calipers never leaked, so he strategically waited until his front pads were worn out THEN went in for the recall. New Brembo calipers with new pads. Free brake job!Or similar to the recent BMW brake fiasco in which Hayes brand calipers were all recalled and replaced with (Brembos?)
I check the oil and lug nuts on my Harley every day before I ride it. Nothing worse than loose nuts…They need to inspect the lug studs too. Can you tie 'em in a knot, can you tie 'em in a bow?I check the oil and lug nuts on my Harley every day before I ride it. Nothing worse than loose nuts…
Just drop them in your sock... Won't help the rear wheel but they'll be out of the way.Can you tie 'em in a knot, can you tie 'em in a bow?
Can you throw them over your shoulder like a Continental soldier? Or do they wobble to and fro?Can you tie 'em in a knot, can you tie 'em in a bow?
Those dudes always show up in Chinese restaurants!You forgot the deadliest gang of all, MSG14, they're so bad they put the fear of God in MS13.
Doesn't look like a car tire to me... Looks like a normal M/C tire, brand I'm not sure of...Looks like the cause is running a car tire on the bike
That is DEFINITELY a M/C tire, not a car tire...That doesn’t look like a car tire to me:

I couldn't agree more. Yet we see them riding Goldwings, with crazy lights and fake chrome all the time.I check the oil and lug nuts on my Harley every day before I ride it. Nothing worse than loose nuts…
Impact with a torque stix works greatNever use an impact to install the lug nuts. Taking them off maybe. I always put them on finger tight, then snug with socket and finally use a torque wrench, crisscross pattern.
Flawed thinking. I absolutely proved without a doubt that the lugnuts were loose on my new 2022. I have no incentive to make anything up, and I certainly would not loosen them upon delivery to put myself at risk. I think its very safe to suggest that the dealer did not purposely loosen them, but clearly did not check them. So, the only logical conclusion is, they were not properly torqued at the factory.Not blaming anyone but my thoughts;
Factory - Unlikely
Dealer - Possibly
Owner - Most Likely
I find it amazing that someone can determine the cause of something as obscure as this issue with the wheel falling off with only a picture to go by.Flawed thinking. If a tote board says the odds of a horse winning an upcoming race are 3-1, is that thinking "flawed?"Flawed thinking. I absolutely proved without a doubt that the lugnuts were loose on my new 2022.
