How the heck does the GL1800 fuel pump come out?
I've got the tool to remove the retainer ring but the pump assembly seems too big to come out through the opening in the tank. I've tried tilting and turning it but it still won't come out.
I know it went in through that hole but I have not found out how it comes back out!!

I've never done it but here is a pic from the 2008 service manual.

release the two white plastic side clips while it's still half way in the tank..

then the bottom half of the pump will drop a couple of inches
and rotate about 45 degrees
.. that's enough to allow everything to come out through the hole.

I believe I just had to tilt down the bottom part and it came right out.

Rocky, you just continue to amaze with your pics
of all the parts.

CBX is correct. Just tilt the end with the gas float down and slide the pump in that direction and it will come right out.

pump

Steve, I have not verified this info,[perhaps someone on this board can], but I have been told that the pump from a Honda Accord is the same pump. Just not near the same money as the Cycle dealer gets for them. Might be worth checking out! JP
