I've been on several of these. They're well-organized and escorted the whole way by (mainly) law enforcement. You ride basically two abreast through some surprisingly gorgeous areas of the Chicago south suburbs. Southwest, more like it. Pretty close quarters with riders of unknown skill.

The 2012 ride was cursed with a constant accordion effect -- speed up, slow down, speed up, etc., very tiring, so I skipped the 2013 ride.

The lunch stop in Morris is pretty cheap -- you get a couple of sloppy joes. It's a fundraiser for a good cause (battling Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) and I understand the purpose is making money, but they're a little too tight for me when it comes to lunch.

Overall, it's worth doing once or twice. It's also a nice break from the alcohol-based poker runs that are so common anymore, where they serve jello shots at 10 a.m.
