I'm thinking about building my own ride off center stand. Has anyone tried this? What are the pitfalls? How about measurements? Thanks Roy

I copied the ride off stand on my SO's 1800. I cut the stand off as close as possible to the arm that you step on to raise the bike. Made 2 plates 1/8 X 1 3/4 X 3 1/2 and welded them onto the bottom of the tubes. Added a gusset between the right side tube and the plate. If I were to do it again the plates would be 1/16 instead of 1/8. Don't get the traction required when on a smooth garage floor.

Should have added that the forward edges of the plates should be bent slightly upward. Don't forget that the right side bolt has a lefthand thread. And use the old washer trick for getting the spring off and on. Someone posted that he had the eye of the spring catch on something and drop his centerstand. Mount the spring so that the open part of the eye is up.
