Risers revisited

1040 Views 15 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Imnotlost
So I did a search and see that there are mostly three brands to choose from. Regs and Kury see to have the best reviews. I'm 5'5" and get pain between the shoulders. Will either of these brands fix my problem? One better than the other.
Thanks in advance for and comments.

Got it, Utopia, also have hgwpegs. I'm reaching for the bars.
I got the MBLs and am verry happy with the results
tryed the kurys and they didnt do much
I've got to install risers also. I just haven't made up my mind which one but I leaning more toward REGs.
Take the Risers Comparison link in my signature to compare them.
Ordered the Reg risers from DLP on 3/22. Finally called today to check on the status and was told they would be several months. SEVERAL MONTHS! :-( Are you kidding me, that would have been helpful information to know on 3/22.
They offered to overnight me the Kury's and split the shipping with me. Was kinda hoping they'd ship for free but I guess it's better than waiting for several months.
So after careful consideration I highly recommend the Kury's unless you have the patience of Job, I do not. Argghhh!
I have the REG risers. I like them. I wish they came back a little further, but they are much better than stock. watch the cables when installing and adjusting.

Diamond Doug - Love the disclaimer. Any sisters? hahaha
I took a test drive of 19 miles while at Homecoming in Marysville, OH. In
that short ride, my shoulders started to hurt so I knew I needed risers.

Don't know which is better but had Kury's installed when I picked up my
bike at the dealer. Had them adjust as far back as possible, also have
Kurry backrest ( I have read most people prefer the Utopia), as a result I
can ride all day with no shoulder pain.
..Tried the Kury risers in several different configurations and they all bring the handlebars in toward the center. I like how far it came back toward me but now my wrist angle is awkward. Anybody know a configuration for the block / risers that will eliminate that?

there was something being done about the wing's handlebars.

it was a fully adjustable handlebar system.

very expensive but you could change the bars fwd, back, in, out, up, down, all wrist angles, etc., in graduated amounts.

super trick!

of course, now i cant find it.

glad i could be of help :joke:

Risers

REG offers a wide range of risers, you can get the ones that bring the grips up, up and back, up and forward, up,back and closer together. I am 5'7" and have short arms, I also had pain between the shoulder blades and I got the risers that brought the bars up,back and in, together with the Utopia backrest I have no more pain. One word of caution when you bring the bar in closer together you will notice that you have to hold your hand down on the grip a little more than before so that you push forward on the grip not down when making a manuever. Pressing down makes the bike go the opposite way.
Next problem, I now have one allen wrench, two bolts and a 2" socket extension that disappeared in the black hole. Is this bad? :? And now what do I have to remove to find them? Probably shouldn't leave them there huh.
OK, found 3 out of 4 parts, yeay! Everything assembled, BUT the handle bars have play, they wiggle quite a bit. That can't be right. I have the blocks and spacers tightened as tight as they can go. I do have 4 unused washers but I thought they were just for additional adjustments.

PS someone tell me when I've hit my stupid question quotient.

Took out the spacers, with the blocks only all is well. The cables on the right side are very tight though, strapped them to the handle bar so they don't rub. Only took 7 1/2 hours. Too late and too cold to ride, I'll find out tomorrow if I improved the comfy quotient.
I just received a set of the Kuryakyn risers that I ordered from Shinhopples. Unfortunately, none of the FIVE possible adjustments are what I need. So, I'll be sending them back for a refund unless someone wants them. I paid $53.99 for them and will charge the same to whomever may want them. (they haven't even been taken out of the package) I just ask that you pay the shipping.

I'll most likely be getting the REG risers, but will CALL before ordering to see if they are in stock. If there is only ONE supplier, then I may be out of luck.

I'll post the Kuryakyn risers in the FOR SALE section, but will not be holding them long.
