Hi Guys,

I was out riding today and started to hear what sounded like a brake pad rubbing. Sure enough, the front pad is making a rubbing sound.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what it could be. The bike has all of 200 miles on it. I really haven't looked at it yet, because it was dark when we got back...but it would be great to not have to bring it to the stealer if I don't have to.

My Wing does the same and this condition is common for disc brakes. Mine also drags sounding like the rotor is warped. We hear it more since we're more exposed to the sound verses riding in a car.

It is the nature of the beast.

The GoldWing uses a floating disk. Under a hard stop situation the disk can get ketty wumpas (A scientific term acquired from Arn Butt Bill) and act as if it is warped. This condition can be solved through normal riding and braking.

There is nothing in the service manual about preparation before measuring a warped disk. I have been able to measure ten times the spec'd runout, and one tenth of it in a matter of hours between. All the disk needs is some heat from gentle braking to bring it true.

Thanks all for your help.

I did have an Oh S&*% moment yesterday when a young lady pulled out into a second lane of travel (mine at the moment). I don't know who had bigger eyes, her or me!

Thanks again, for your help on this.

I know the term as "cattywampus".

Did ABB have his spellchecker turned off that day? ... or perhaps they spell it differently in some parts of the country? LOL!

Maybe his spells were working fine; he should have been focused on checking his spelling! :?

from time to time my bike does the same thing, for me, I found that applying heavy brake pressure to the front and rear at the same time (bike does not have to be moving) makes it go away, I think it may have something to do with the linked breaking system.
