Okay guys, I am thinking about a Sat Radio for my '02 wing. Sirius or XM, FM transmitter or Aux cable,,,,What to do??

BTW, I am getting static on intercom, is that common and is there an easy fix. I usually run with the Radio through the speakes and the intercom on... :?:

Each company has a 3 day trial subscription over the internet. Listen to each and decide which format you like the best.

I personally went with Sirius. Sportser receiver on a RAM mount, left handle bar, and wired through the AUX. Nothing like riding a 1500 mile BunBurner Gold and never having to change stations! 8)

The Roady XT came with a small docking station and I didn't want to mount it on the handle bars because it would probably have been too much vibration. I removed the goldwing emblem on the top shelter just below the key and mounted my Roady XT in its place. No vibration and it is right in front of me. I however, did not want to use the large and bulky aux power port with the power adapter that came with the Roady so I hard wired mine. Go to the below link and they carry a hard wire kit that is made specifically for the Roady XT. I spliced into the wires that are in the rubber boot with the aux cable. This way the Radio only has power applied when the ignition is on, and you don't have to worry about that dreaded aux plug with the large transformer that comes with the radio. As for the antenna...I mounted it on the center of the dash and ran the wire behind the windshield.

I use an XM Roady 2, mounted to a Hoon, with a shortened antenna, run thru a Kennedy Dualaux, and it works great. I never use the speakers, so can't help ya there
I do think the Hoon mounted on the left side with the wires inside the bars is the way to go

I use the same-but if I had to do it again-I might lean toward the Sirrus

That's the way I got mine too. Sirius Starmate Replay running thru the AUX , and the antenna on tht Hoon. Wires can be mostly hidden and it;s a simple and clean install. May need a longer aux cable and a connector for 12VDC form EC but that's cheap and easy to put together. That's the way I did it anyway. used the radio power plug without the cigarette plug (cut off) & wired to the honda plug using a EC connector.

I guess XM is fine....but the wife wanted to hear Howard Stern???

I agree with Dicepilot... Check out the 3 day trials on both and then decide which fits your taste better. Both have a bunch of equipment, that for the most part are equal on a technical basis. It's all really personal preference after that.

I personally recommend using the aux plug. I don't think any FM Modulator can compare to plugging right into the system.

I spoke to the Tech guy at Sirius recently about my possible flakey antenna, and he said that the AUX input should have the best sound quality by far, and is the recommended way.

I have XM in two cars and on two motorcycles and Sirius in my Mustang (because that is what the head unit supports).

Sirius has better sports

XM has better comedy

My guess is one will survive but damned if I can figure out which one. Neither makes money (or is even close) but Wall Street values Sirius much higher than XM. 5.7B as compared to 3.4B

Other than that they are pretty much the same.

I will say this; over several years the XM Skyfi has held up well on the GL1500, however the craddles do wear out and allow the radio to fit "loose". This causes the rasio to "shut down" from time to time. SOlution is a rubber band or a new craddle.
