Be sure to turn on the 'aux' and also make sure the CB squelch is set to at least 8
That did it! I am new to the cb world  Thanks!

The squelch setting should be high enough to cut out the background noise but low enough that you can hear the folks you are trying to hear.

An 8 on the CB squelch is rather high - you are limiting your range severely. I suggest setting it as low as you can without having background noise (typically around 3 or 4). You get the occasional squelch break, that's to be expected. If it happens a lot, then raise it one and see what happens. If you are in a really noisy area, like under power lines or something, tighten it up temporarily, but remember to loosen it again later.

I don't know how many times I hear someone calling on the CB, and you answer them and they can't hear you (a block or two away) because they've got their squelch to tight.

Are you Sirius? Now, you're going to put the 'squelch' on this entire thread.
