I spoke to Connie this afternoon and she sent me the following email so those of you who want to go ahead and make reservations (and cancel your reservations at Sleep Inn), she's now ready for you. Be sure to mention "Smoky Mountain Ride In" in your message.

Here is the email from Connie:

If the people who would like reservations for the above June dates would email me at [email protected] I will make reservations and email them a confirmation. If they do not wish to give me a credit card number in the email, give me a phone number and name and I will call them and obtain the proper information.

We look forward to having the group stay with us. Any questions etc. please direct to me by email.

Quick Update - 2/4/09: If you send Connie an email after 6am Friday morning, she will not process the reservation or call you back until Monday evening or Tuesday morning. She will be out of town this weekend. That is ONLY this weekend, 2/7 & 2/8.

Thanks again for hitting this one out of the park. If the Sleep Inn does not want to help, we need to take our business elsewhere!

Maybe when the "cartel" gets there we can let the management know who they're dealing with. Unless, of course, we all have to show up wearing "mickey mouse" ears... :lol:

Just talked to Connie. What a sweetheart!! I then called the Sheep Inn and cancelled my reservation. I nicely asked the lady to tell the guy running the place that the extra $8 he was planning to make off me for the weekend cost him the whole 4 night reservation and that once he told me the weekend rate was $85 he shouldn't then raise it to $89. I just wanted to let him know why I was cancelling. Whether he gives a hoot, who knows? But with the Microtel opening he will have to change his ways or pay the price.

Connie has been emailed. This thing seems to be snowballing and getting huge. There is no way this can't be an annual thing. I can't wait till June.

Well, I guess some of us now have extra jobs!!! :lol:

What we will do is book places for 2010 based upon what happens this year. How about I have a sign in sheet at the Ridge Top lobby. We'll get some feedback. One question will be the number expecting to attend in 2010. I figure that we can fill the Ridge Top & Microtel.
