I've been using Google Maps for years to build routs/trips with multible waypoints to share with my friends and fellow rally goers. SO EASY and EASY to share. I've been trying to convince myself for a long time to go back to a dedicated GPS. (My last one was an I Way 500 (if anyone remembers THAT!) Anyway, I want one of these things (Zumo XT) but SO many of my fellow riders who have owned/used them say "They are the best out there and they SUCK! STICK TO YOUR PHONE AND GOOGLE MAPS!" Plus these are some of the annotated quotes I found in just ONE Zumo XT thread: * I had to get the Gold Subscription. * need multible apps. * I got lots of updates and fixes. * I watched about hours of "easy" to understand tutorials, the wern't. * it dosen't work with my laptop/desktop. * it dosen't recognize this or that anymore. * FRUSTRATING. * keeps shutting down. * I'm working through another solution. * I reinstalled and reconnected. * the drive app has stopped. * GOOD GRIEF!!!!! I really don't want to be buried in the desert with my head above the sand and have ants dumped on me, nor do I want someone to poke me in the eye with a sharp stick!!! WHY IN THE HE## do people put themselves through this? H O W E V E R, I do want to buy and try this thing if Garmin or whoever has figured out/developed a device that is as user friendly, easy to use AND has a few more features than Google Maps. In February 1978, the first Block I developmental Navstar/GPS satellite launched, with three more Navstar satellites launched by the end of 1978. That's 45 years ago! Do we still have to rely on some Google engineers who launched their Google Maps in 2005. GOOD GRIEF!! Does anyone have a suggestion for me that won't require an electircal engineering degree or a $300./hour psychiatrist to help me develope coping skills? PS: I can learn stuff cuz I graduated from kindergarten and, generally, know how to turn devices on. MANY THANKS in advance for your thoughts and ideas!
