I drove 1h 45m today to pick up my 2018 from the only dealer in my area willing to do the UBS bolt recall. He’s done over 30 so far from all across North Carolina, southern Virginia, and some from South Carolina with more waiting for their spot.
While I was there, the service manager (SM) was on the phone with a guy who lives not far from where I live asking if he too could get on the list. The SM said, “of course”, and put him on the list.
After he got off the phone, I told the SM there was a dealer in the same small town as where that guy is coming from that refuses to do the recall, the SM then told me that (I think he said) next week is some kind of big Honda owner’s meeting and the owner of his shop had requested a printout of the repair orders, and cities where they have been receiving bikes from to work on. The owner’s intent, I think, is to present this information at the owner’s conference to raise some kind of stink.
I think we are aware there is nothing in the contract with mother Honda that the shops are mandated to do it but, is it right?
Lastly, his techs have it down to a science and can do a bike from power off to power on replacing the UBS bolt in a tad under 4 hours. So, I would expect the additional (~ 1.8 hours) Honda pays out for it is added profit.
