Hit this link and tell them to take off the 23 hours of Nascar and the one-hour of TUNER CHALLENGE and put on motorcycles.

Remember, we spend thousands of dollars each year on product from companies who would advertise on a motorcycle channel or at least improved coverage.

How does FUEL TV even exist. How much does a skateboarder spend on his sport each year. How about surfers? These guys drive hundred dollar cars, work part time, and smoke dope. Of course I guess the quick trip could advertise burritos or the band-aid companies could benefit from being advertisers......but the fact that FUEL exists and their is no MC channel is a joke.

EMAIL THEM!!! And do it more than once. http://www.speedtv.com/feedback/

Speed TV

Ok, I emailed them. Dunno if it will help, but if enough of us drop the hint, perhaps they will relent. I don't watch Speed TV much anymore since they dropped "Two Wheel Tuesday"..

Reg my boy.....

You are forgetting the prime reason services like SPEED even exist - to pander to the largest audience.

Motorcycles, in case you haven't looked lately, are a very tiny minority of advertisers revenues compared to people like NAPCAR fans who buy more racetrack trinkets than we do chrome. The actual numbers are astounding and we, as a motorcycling community, will never come close.

BTW, SPEED does air some MC stuff. Just recently I noticed an airing of ON ANY SUNDAY. They also have some vertical twin related shows (assumes you relate to guys with more tattoos than brains).

I really doubt there would be enough viewership to support an all-MC channel, even if it were a miniscule cable variety. It would be neat though.

Also BTW, FUEL and some of its brethern, are spinoffs of other cable services and don't make money in their own right. They are what is referred to a niche markets and exist primarily to give advertisers more specific exposure. With the advent of digital satellite and cable it has become possible to program these niche services without the expensive overhead of dedicated bandwidth. You would have never seen these services in the "old days" of analog bandwidth.

Your right in that we need more air space, but the reason these kids drive $100 cars is that they spend every dollar they have on their chosen "vice". Hence their billion dollar sports, and over developed tv times.

Want to point out how get 23 hrs of NA$CAR out of that? I do wish there was more shows on motorcycling but very few hold my interest. Seems I am in a very small minority of the motorcycling world. Most of the shows that were on Two Wheel Tuesday were sportbike or v-twin neither of which hold my interest.

A motorcycle channel or more motorcycling on the speed channel? We'll probably get more stuff like American Chopper. No thanks.

But its hard to come up with what would really be entertaining on a motorcycle channel and appreciated by everybody. The only truly entertaining show that I saw that was remotely motorcycle oriented was "Feasting on Asphalt" but I don't think that many folks were entertained by it.

The thing about motorcycling is the experience. Watching it is kinda boring.

I do wish there was more motorcycle content on speed BUT since I can follow;

AMA Superbike
World Superbike
Moto GP

Plus some of the support classes I not complaining.

I certainly remember when things were much, much worse!

Maybe you guys missed this???

http://www.motorcyclechannel.tv/5.html

Quote from the Motorcycle Channel Website:

The Motorcycle Channel (MCTV) is dedicated to providing programming for motorcycle enthusiasts no matter what you ride.

What drives us:
Like you, we have sat around the TV on any given night waiting for a particular network to air an ever-popular show centered around a hard-core, dysfunctional family as they build bikes in their motorcycle garage... because that's all there is on TV. We've changed the channel to watch motorcycle races on a really fast network, only to find that they are canceling many of their programs to air NASCAR. Fine... we'll take it from here! And of course, like you, while watching Sunday afternoon football games, we've seen the humorous Harley commercials or Honda motorcycle commercials, and thought, "Hey... something from 'our world'!" So we decided to create a television network totally dedicated to all types of motorcycles. Wasn't it about time?

People
Over the next six months, we'll be looking for producers for many of our shows. Everyone knows that there is always a rivalry between bike owners of different brands. My bike's better than your bike! But like the rivalry between the Navy and the Marine Corps, when the war is on, we're all in this together. That is evident when we're on our bikes, passing each other on the street... and we all put out the "two-fingers-45 degree-down-angle" wave to one another - cruiser/standard rider to sportbike rider. We're on the same team. So at the Motorcycle Channel, we want those who are fanatics about their brand of bike, their world in the motorcycle community to be the ones who produce shows about their world. The Motorcycle Channel convergence... can't we all just get along?!

Company
Our network is based in Southern California, near the real OC...the mecca for good weather and good riding. But we will have a production "presence" all around the U.S. We're discussing airing programs about motorcyclists and clubs from around the world! We're coming to shoot you and your bike... and we mean that in the production sense of the word shoot. We look forward to a long relationship with the bike community. So, ride safe, ride long... just get out there and ride!

Personally, I'd love to see a channel that is dedicated to all types of motorcycle, but living in SoCal, I can tell you that most of the bikes on the road are sport bikes, followed by Harleys. Goldwings are somewhere down the list in popularity. The sponsors will cater to the masses, and the programming will likely center around sport bikes, for the most part.
I'd love to be wrong, but the sponsors know which side of their bread is buttered.

I posted the link. And I am waiting to see what happens. I lpretty much like all motorcycle related TV, but the CHOPPER STUFF is not what I am interested in. I want Dirt Track, SX and MX and Road Race. And the new racing with Jeff Ward and them guys. Chopper stuff is old to me now. Lets build something that somebody really does ride. Theme bikes suck.

I've heard that Nascar is bigger than baseball, if true then that is your answer. Besides the few hours of MC's is mostly Harley or rice burner racing which don't interest me either. If I had to choose, I'd take the Nascar.

Wow, a few are worried about their Nascar content and chose to attack me...thanks. I'm biting my tongue, but I will say that there are a lot of us who are not fully absorbed in door slammers. I watch them, but my point is that Nascar seems 24/7 to many of us, and that Fuel TV exists is proof that a MC channel can work.

There are a lot of motorcycle events and content that would make up a purely MC channel. Enduros, travel, drag, cruisers, customs, sport, desert racing, trials events, international events, personalities, factory tours, design, documentaries, history, etc..... Think about the hundreds and hundreds of companies who would want to be a part of it. Helmet mfr. apparel, mc mfrs, tour companies, insurance, and only about a thousand others who would want to market to us. I would love to see a show on Chatterbox or communication options, what garments have high-tech fabrics, how a helmet is made, an LA to Vegas dual sport ride how to guide, what you learn in a motorcycle safety class, sportbike geometry......I'd watch all of it and more. Go to your garage and total up what you have spend in MC's and all the gear total......nuff said. It could work.

Nascar needs it own channel, MC needs its own channel, and speed tv can specialize in the mix between the three. Check out this online demographic survey.

You don't have to convince anyone on this board that they would watch/support a MC channel.

You only have to convince potential sponsors.

Good luck.
