2003 Gold Wing 33000 miles. Has a stickey throttle return. We have removed throttle grip cleaned and lubed with Graphite spray. Sprayed Graphite lube down both cables re assembled . The return is still stickey and slow. The tech manual says now to replace the throttle cables.
We can do that, just thought someone might have an easier suggestion.
Waiting with tounge chewing anticipation for your suggestions.

sticky throttle

Sounds like the return cable housing may be kinked somewhere and that means a new cable is what your going to need. Make sure there is no glue from the grips gumming up the movement

Do a search of this board over the past couple of weeks. There are some photos of kinked cable at the pull adjuster under the pocket area and a write-up of the replacement. Also, before tackeling the BIG cable replacement job, make sure its not something as simple as the inner rubber flange of the grip rubbing the housing. Its a whole lot easier to remove and reset the grip than it is to replace cables and then find them still binding. If its cables, go ahead and replace them all.

Graphite seems like the wrong lubricant for this application.

Mine was sticky a few years ago. I fixed it with silicone spray lube. Wrap the end of your cables with plastic sandwich wrap then insert the spray tube. Hold all tightly with one hand and spray with the other. Spray long enough for the silicone to exit the far end. Good luck.
