Got back after a 50 mile ride, parked the bike for about 45 mins and when I went to start it to put it in the garage, when I turned on the ignition there was a strange gurgling whooshing noise coming from the area of the gas tank I think, a bit like a kettle thats just boiled.
Tried leaving it for another 30 mins and its still the same noise every time I turn on the ignition.
The noise disappears as soon as you turn off the ignition.
Any ideas?

Yup...Normal. My 02 has always done that and it never overheats, nor have I ever had any problems with the cooling system.

I suspect that you just never noticed it before.

Ignore and ride on. And ride with care.
