I'm stealing a photo from another thread, because it partially shows a part underneath the bike, near the exhaust. I noticed this part the other day while changing out the final drive oil and I couldn't figure out what it is and I didn't see it in the Parts Manual.

What is this tab / flange that doesn't seemingly connect anything to anything? My first guess is that it's the side stand mount for the EU/UK bikes, because they drive on the wrong side of the road, so they must have the side stand on the other side too, amirite?! :grin2:

I believe I read it is to cut down harmonic vibration resonations.

Like lyle says ... but it's all speculation. I don't think anyone on here really knows.

- to test, remove it and see what happens.

Unfortunately, it may only break up harmonics and vibrations under certain conditions, so the test might be irrelevant.

It is a vibration damper for the drive line, and has been confirmed as such by Honda.
