How much ( if any ) damage will it do to take off in second gear with a GL1800?
If on level ground , one up, and no jack rabbit starts. ( easy take off)

The bike seems to have plenty of power and no cluch slipping seems to be required.

Just wondering!

Gold Wing clutches will take a lot of abuse without problems. On the level or slightly downhill, I take off in second quite frequently... The 1800 has the torque to do 0-70 in second very smoothly and quickly with no wasted time shifting.

I do it all the time...sometimes on purpose...sometimes not  . I find that I can get down the road a lot quicker starting in second.
:sw1: Thanks.......KC
