i am thinking about traiding in my 2005 Gw,[less than 25000 on it] for a new 08/09--with air-bags -ect-am i nuts or what?:roll:

Totally nuts. Not enough difference to notice and you've just got yours broken in. If you've got too much $ just Traxionize it. Wait until the next new models come out.

If you want a new bike, go for it. If you wait for the new models to come out, they're always be something else to wait for..... wait until they work the bugs out, next year will have DVD player, etc.... If you can afford it, spend the money and make yourself happy. You can always trade later if you want to. Life is too short.

I don't know what you have on your 05, but the 08 could conceivable include: ABS, better speakers, GPS, heated seat/heated grips and foot warmers and, of course, the air bag -- all of which may be enhancements to your current scoot. You'd have to decide if the cost of those enhancements is worth it but there are quite a few to make a significant difference between 2005 and 2008 model years.

Tex#9 - Sounds like it's the airbag you are after, and if that's the case go for the one that has the price you like!:thumbup:

Like many have said.... it's your nickel.... but.....

Just for fun.....

I'll bet at under 25000.....

You haven't run over 5 gallons of oil through it...
It's still running (fine) on the original plugs....
May only be on it's SECOND set of tires....
Hasn't had (or really needed) the first fluids service yet...
Hasn't had it's first valve clearance check....
Hasn't needed any repairs or significant adjustments...
Probably hasn't even blown a light bulb yet....
Still running fine on the original air filter....
Doesn't have a scratch on it..... except maybe where you drug those pegs :roll:

Am I close?

After you spring for the new one....
And take off down the road.....
Look out ahead.... not down at the bike....

and ask yourself...

Can I tell which bike I'm on without looking????????

Although most find new features interesting....
and find the new bikes pretty....There are very few differences that can justify the expense of trading up from a like new 05 to an 08/09.

Every Gold Wing out there was a NEW ONE at one time....
And the GL1800 has been basically unchanged for all it's years.
Until Honda puts something new into play....
many of us Long term 1800 owners....
will be more impressed with the 200,000 mile bike...
than we are with seeing another new one from the old mold.

We all do what we want based on what we are trying to accomplish with the act.
If you have reasons that justify a new bike expense to you.....
that's all that matters.
