I very may well be soon planning a trip to San Antonio . With that being said ,I have never rode a bike in Texas. What are the MUST ride roads in Texas? Most likely will not venture too much south of San Antonio. Would like to ride mountain country for sure. Please help fellow winger on your Unknown State to me. Just a handful of states left and I think I can swin this one by end of year if I play my cards right. PM Me if it works better for ya.

Three Sisters is a must! San Antonio is just south of "Hill Country" where there are lot's of great motorcycle roads.

Click here for info on the Three Sisters and other nice cruising roads:

Enjoy!

The sisters, Hwy 16, Fredericksburg is a nice place to spend an afternoon to walk around the shops, Lucenbach (just to say you've been there), Kerrville has a lot of rides, just ask when you get to town. Most are within a couple of hours from San Antonio.
It will be hot, we are in a heat wave and drought for the books. Drink plenty and when in the Hill Country, never miss a chance for gas. A GPS for when you want to get back is a good idea.
Have a great trip and watch the cages, because they probably aren't watching you.

Best Wishes

Look for an alternative to I-35.. It's crowded and dull.. If you take the west fork through Ft Worth, then 67 down to Hico, you can pick up 281 south to the hill country.. It's mostly 4 lane, but not much traffic, and better scenery.. You have to slow down as you go through the towns, but the speed limit is not bad otherwise..

Gonna be HOT, especially for a Yankee...

Very good advice. As much as I travel back and forth to Dallas from San Antonio, I take 281... I-35 has just too much traffic at any time of the day.

Thanks guys for info ,got it all saved and now we will have to see if I can work this trip out cash wise. Rocket maybe leave the light on!! Yankee indeed but my heart has always been in the south boys. As far as the heat I learned my lesson in Natchez, Mississsippi I few years back. I drink more water than a camel at a watering hole. I am thinking maybe late august maybe

last time I went through Lampasses on 281 there was a lot of utility construction which had their roads tore up. Might be better to consider 16 from Ft Worth to f'burg.

When I go thru I drop one street over, nothing but yield signs and just a few stop signs. No biggie, its a lot faster than stopping or fighting the construction traffic.
