OK QD, couple of suggestions .

1. Let maybe continue this topic over in the right "trips and rides heading.
2. Pick a Motel and lets get the reservation thing happenen.
3 Make a map with all the goodies via Garmin so us GPS boys can go gaga over it.
4. Set the meeting place for the start.
5. ah , er , ah , oh ya , to quote you " sound good "EH" ?

lets start over over here

OK - Here is a link to what has been said...

Here is the map

And here is for the reservations.

Took a little ride up the beach today to Florence. 46 degrees all the way.. Took a look at the local Motels, and figured a good one would be the River House, which is right on the river on the west end of old town. Restaurant next door, off street parking, walk about for to eight blocks will put you in the tourist area and old waterfront. Prices are reasonable. And there is another one right on the main drag called Old Town. Both are decent places. For anyone wanting to camp, there are a couple of campgrounds, one county park out Rhodendron Drive that overlooks the river, ocean, and jetties. The other is a very nice State campground about 5 miles south on 101 towards Reedsport. Just figured the Harbor Vista County park would be a little closer to the eats. Anyway, just thought I would pass it on if you wanted to add it to the 2.5 mile planning posting on the GL1800 Riders thread.

River House Motel in Florence OR just west of the bridge right on the river

Old Town Motel on US 101 just east of the bridge

Campgrounds

Lane County Harbor Vista Park overlooking the jetty, river, about 4 miles downriver from the bridge

Oregon State Park Honeyman State Park about 5 miles south of the bridge on west side of US 101

And Dayle said he would modify the map, and use River House Motel as primary.

Well Jeff you may not need to wonder what you didn't miss... so far we're into the New Year the ride is not that far away and nobody has solidified anything . Unfortunately I do not know the area we're maybe going to so there isn't a lot I can do from this end.
Oh I just about forgot, QD says we can all stay at his place Friday night, so that's one night done :p

But having said all that, it gonna be a GREAT RIDE JEFF !! :a13: :biker:

OK - Just looked at that and figured out why they would be full. The third weekend of May is the annual Florence Rhody Festival, and by chance happens to be about the largest gathering of motorcycles on the Oregon Coast - complete with a 20K runner marathon, parade of old cars, three or four thousand bikers and who knows what.

Would suggest that we move the evening stop to Newport, or even Yachats. Dayle, let me know which way you want to jump, and I will run up the beach and look for a hangout.
I would say Newport just because it's closer. We can always go for a night ride to Florence if we haven't had enough by Newport.

Heading to Corvalis, via Alsea, for breakfast on Sunday will leave the option of taking the interstate open for those who need to hurry home.

These are the two places closest to the starting point in Olympia:
GuestHouse Suites 360-943-5040
Comfort Inn 360-596-9100

This is very close too:
Motel 6 360-754-7320

a few blocks further:
Best Western 360-956-1235

You don't reqalize how much I hate to get in the middle of this type of thing. No matter where we stay, someone will bitch. But, here goes....

Just reserved a block of rooms under GL1800 Riders by Florence in the Driftwood Shores 1-800-422-5091
http://www.driftwoodshores.com/

I would recommend if you are going, get the reservations in bout now. With the Rhody festival that weekend,
guarentee there will not be a decent room left within 50 miles in a couple of weeks.

It is on the beach, on site resturaunt, bar, and last time I stayed there very clean.
Should be far enough not to hear all the Hogs oink, but close enough to watch the fun.

Be advised, because of the festivities, there will be bears galore with pen in hand
to collect some of them thar tourist dollars - so leave the blue strobes turned off.

Done deal !! Kathy & I are in too.

By the way, because of the "Roddy weekend" there are no 'group rates' being honored. Best deal that Debbie would give me is $87 for the night.
