My Son drives a 1978 GL1000. We were looking up tires for it (100/90-19, 130/90-17) and he said he needed tubes. If the wheel
is a mag type wheel, can you install a valve and use tubeless tires? Can you put tubes in tubeless tires? I did find a tire that stated
tube or tubeless. That's what got me a little confused.

It's easy for our GL1800...just search for those tires and matching sets come up by brand. This classic GL1000 has me confused.

Any knowledge any one has out there on this would be appreciated!

Provided that the 78 has the original Comstars on it, then yes, it was meant to have a tube. Desipite it being a mag wheel, it wasn't tubeless. They came a bit later.

not to steer you away from this site, but if you want a lot of good reading and help on the older Wings, head over to http://www.ngwclub.com . That site is for the old 4 cylinders.

tube in tubeless tire

Yes, you can put a tube in tubeless tires. My ol'Harley Road King had wire wheels (not tubeless) and came with tubes and tubeless tires (all that is available for the road).
