I just recieved my replacement, under warranty! There is a problem, it seems to be in a bind when installing. It's not a flush mount on mine. My service center has contacted Mother Honda. My service center is going to take my Wing and make a extensive probe to the problem. What I would like from all, is "Post" a reply for who has a cracked and broken Rear Front Fender. And a word of Gratitude and encouragement to them, for maybe getting to the Bottom of this issue. Just, maybe we'll get some type of results. I'm going to print all posts and take to them. PLEASE REPLY RESPONSIBLY!

I just found out tonight that 3 of the 4 ears are broken off and the 4th one is barely hanging on. Also my left side chrome rotor cover has cracked between the 2 holes that bolt to the rear front fender. The last time I checked Hal's prices the rear front fender in my color was over $200. I guess it is time to get the JB Weld out and start glueing the big machine back together again. Hmmm, a mental picture of Humpty Dumpty riding a Goldwing just came to mind. Also an omelette sounds good right now. Is Denny's still open?

Just doing a reply to get moved back on top! Enough responses may help to get Honda to make a service call?

Both chrome caliper covers and the rear part of the front fender have cracked. I have it all glued together but haven't ridden very far yet. Hopefully it will hold but I would bet not. The front end hits hard going through holes and over bumps etc. I think this is what jars the front end so bad

Why isn't the back part of the fender made out of the same plastic that they make motocross fenders out of? You can twist them and almost tie them in a knot and they don't even crack and go back to shape.

Huh, how strange. Just saw this and I just happen to ordered my rear front fender today. 117,000 miles and it needed replacing to go with my new front side pieces and a new replacement (and much longer) front fender extension. I suppose after my mileage it didn't owe me anything although I was hoping I could get by without ordering it, especially since the illusion red is not a cheap color on painted parts, but no such luck.

I checked eBay to see if they might have the illusion red rear front fender, but no such luck. I saved a bundle on replacing a rear center fender that way compared to Honda's OEM prices.

Hopefully I'll be good for about 200,000 more miles this time.

The fender forms part of the unsprung weight of the vehicle. Hitting hard, no doubt from the anti-dive valve failing, actually reduces the stresses placed on the fender by buffering the road imperfections transferred by the wheel. You, and the rest of the vehicle, are taking the bump and the tire is deforming more reducing the damaging changes in acceleration of motion (scientific term is jerk) of the unsprung weight.

I understand how this can be counterintuitive. In any case, repair your anti-dive valve and inspect your fender more often

I have had to purchase 3 plastic chrome side pieces (the cheaper parts) and one rear fender section for my 01 Wing (not all at once), over the last year. I now am running without a front fender extension. I patched and re patched the rear portion, until it was not possible to re patch/repair again.

I paid $390.00 for the rear front fender part, up here in Canada. My fault though, I just ordered it from my local dealer, not knowing how much it would cost, just knowing I needed one and not expecting to get dinged as bad as I did. I did ask the price when I ordered it, but the dealer didn't know what it was offhand (and now I wonder), so I told him to get it in for me anyway. If had had known the price, I would have gone looking on the internet, for sure, again, definitely my bad. :(

well I just discovered my chrome caliper covers are cracked ( both sides ) I put some epoxy on them to stiff'n them up.

Front fender *B* is just fine, it seems to be holding up.

The epoxy "patch" I put on the back of the chrome covers seems to be working. I think I'll try and get then replaced after the bike is put to bed for the winter ( in about 2 months )

I think when I get new covers the first thing I'm going to do is re-enforce the "crack zone" to see if that helps???

not just wondering since i ride hard and have no problem is all?
I do have a fender extension and mine did not crack until sometime this year after the last front tire change. It is just a poor design. The tabs the bolts go through need to be thicker or the fender needs to have a metal subframe or the fender itself needs to be made from a different material. I do not believe it has anything to do with riding style. The plastic just gives out from the constant vibration and forms stress cracks after a while.
