Had a nasty surprise on my last trip this fall when the wind caught the lid of my Cycle Mate trailer and popped it up. Got stopped before any other surprises. Damage was limited to the shock absorbers which hold the top up. Has anybody replaced these? Thanks

Short of calling Cyclemate, take the unit (the shock) to your nearest auto parts dealer. Im SURE these are just standard hatchback lifters.
Size it by length and you should have no problem

Did it pull the gas springs in two? can not imagine what may have happened.

There should be some printing on the body of the shock. Numbers like 140N which means 140 newtons of force, and another number that is the overall length in millimeters when it is extended .
