A bunch of us from work are planning a trip south from Wash DC to as far south as northern Alabama and back. If anyone could give us some good routes using Secondary Roads it would be helpful. We are looking for scenic with occasional points of interest.
Our route wold be something like DC-VA-NC-SC-AL-TN-KY-WV-DC. We have 6 days and we would be camping

Thanks!

Trip to AL

Recommend going west to Front Royal, VA and going down Skyline Drive till it dead ends at the Blueridge Parkway.

Take the Blueridge then to where it ends at Cherokee NC which is right at the Great Smokey Mt Park.

Several (over 500) miles with very little traffic, especially this time of year, and absolutely ZERO stop signs.

Twisties out the wazoo.

There is a small charge for the Skyline Drive, unless you are active duty, reserve or national guard (retired don't count).

Can't help you the rest of the way, never been that direction.
