Took a day trip (one way 130 miles) with my daughter yesterday to Mount Mitchell State Park located off the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had a great time, ate lunch at the Mount Mitchell State Park restaurant, had grilled mountain trout. On the way home we got caught in a down pour (thunder and lightning) from the time we left the parkway at hwy 276 to with in about 20 miles of home. It was the first time my daughter had been caught in severe weather and she handled it wonderfully, never complained even when we got in a traffic jam that has us waiting in line for over 20 minutes right in the middle of the storm (where 276 junctions with hwy 64). It was a 12 hour ride and even with the storm on the way home, it was 12 of the best hours of my life!

Daughter Ride

That's a great ride. Did the same with my daughter in '97. BTW, I've been to that PO. It's been closed a while, huh?

Hope you get to enjoy another. It's just as good the next time.
