Tried to install the 2023 update today. Downloaded it to a USB stick (USB2, 16 GB). Downloaded the USB to the bike and it started to load. When I came back later the screen was blank. When I re-started the bike it was looking for a USB stick to load, and the screen was locked in that mode. Thinking that something had gone wrong with the download, I re-installed the USB stick. The same thing happened. The screen is now stuck in the mode looking for a USB stick. Any ideas?

I did the same thing. Twice. The ANSWER is: Sit there, doing nothing, so YOU ARE THERE once it reaches 100%. The screen will then change a couple times and then wind up back at the question, (something like) WANT TO UPLOAD THE NEW SOFTWARE TO THE BIKE? YOU SAY "NO". The computer-brain in your bike will then cycle through to END this update process!! You must be there to answer the question once the files are loaded. Otherwise the bike shuts itself off and you START THE PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN. Yes, it is irritating, but that is the answer to your challenge.

So you have to sit there the whole 45-60 minutes?

No, go have a cup of coffee (or three) and come back. When you come back, if it is asking you if you want to perform the update again, that means it finished and rebooted. Select NO and remove the USB stick. Takes around 30 minutes or so total to complete.

Just a stupid thought I have of what might be biting some of you in the ass. I'm sure the majority of you are properly following the instructions of transferring the file to the USB stick, but are you ejecting it properly before you pull it out of the computer? I've seen this happen on slower Windows machines and/or slower USB sticks were one thinks the process is done, but it is still writing in the background. Always use the eject feature in the menu and only pull the stick out when it tells you to do so.

Stupid question, where does the USB plug into?

Just an observation Lexoman, on another site where you recently also posted this dilemma, and you had the exact same issue back in 2020. Where you reported back that you hadn't formatted the flash drive to NTSF, which corrected the problem.
Did the same thing happen again?

(The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.)

Very valid point. Many don't do it. I had asked our PC tech at work about that. ALWAYS eject before removing. It can be fine with some downloads, but Eject is an insurance policy.

I do have one question, is the update also for European delivered bikes?
No, just US bikes. You have to check the respective page for other countries to download the Euro update. IIRC, an update for Canada recently dropped, so maybe everyone else is on the horizon.

Ronnie - I'd be glad to help. Maybe we can throw in an oil change and make it a whole 12 pack event! 🤣

No, I formatted it correctly this time.
