I absolutely love my new bushtec. Got it at Wings Over Smokies.

Two questions.

#1 The receiver hitch under the bike slides up into a square hole with a hitch lock pin through it. When I unlock the lock and pull the pin out, the reciever does not want to slide down and out. It is up there tight. I have tried to tap it, to no avail. I don't want to be too rough with it. It is just jammed or is it not suppose to come out?

#2 Do I remember John Preston telling me not to leave the ball lock on the trailer hitch when not in use. If not, why not? And, it seems that the little pin sticking up with nothing on it, is an invitation to trouble and rust. I hate those cute little covers you can put on there.

Thanks a million

Jan ? If you look up there you should see a bolt with a locking nut, if you have not tightened it you might just be very close to hitting the reciever piece you slid into it, back that bolt off a little and she should fall right out !
Be careful ! I will make a mark on your face if it hits you.........
Don't ask !........LOL
I remove mine after I'm done using the trailer, I tie wrap my plug end and put electic type grease to prevent corrosion inside the plugs. All of my hitch parts are covered as we speak with a fine coat of grease, and are removed for winter storage......... :)

Did you loosen the tension bolt? there's a bolt on the hitch side of the vertical receiver that screws in to keep the hitch from jiggling around. To remove the hitch, you loosen the bolt a bit (until you can jiggle the hitch) and then pull out the locking pin.

Jan, Hi again I met you While we were getting our Trailers. I have also watched the cd that we got. The Bushtec owners manual. It is the same thing we watched in Johns trailer. It also says not to leave the ball on the Hitch when not pulling the trailer. It does not say why. Maybe you could give John a call and ask him. Really like my trailer may never take it off.
