At a dealer buying some pants. They sell URAL bikes with a sidecar. Looked darn nice. List was $12000. Easy to work on, looked very simple

Anyone ever own a URAL? No idea what they're like.

Wingwing just bought a brand new Red Ural with the side car. Check out the Florida forum for pictures of his.

I would love to have a Ural two wheel drive options for hauling my bloodhound around and the winters here in New England. They are not very fast bikes but look like they could be a lot of fun.

I was talking to one of our aircraft mechanics about the Ural a couple of months ago, bring from the U.K. he was familiar. He told me they have a reputation for "being for the enthusiasts." Meaning if have to be fixing them all the time.:agree:

You can pick up a used one (WITH the SIDECAR) for about the cost of few a Goldwing CB radios.
I guess the depression hasn't hit where you are yet?
... lol ...
:joke:

I've been reading about them for about 3 years...
.. one just came along and I was in the mood for a new "ride"..
.. and the price was right.

They're neither maintenance free nor the "cold war" pieces of junk they used to be..
... somewhere in between I'd say.

Went to Kawasaki Dealership in Savannah GA Saturday morning. Early to
beat the heat. I had a game ticket to see if I won a Vaquero. No, I
didn't win, but I was shocked to see they are now selling Urals! They
had a boring black which was actually sold already, but also this very
intriguing Orange/Silver. Boy, it really got the wish genes working. The
bird poop on the sidecar top bothered me all week-end, and it isn't mine.

That is my Vision in the background, with the toll booth EZ pass on the
windshield. I wished I could get a dang local Victory dealership again!

I got a little brochure on this. MPG looks weak. Although it is a 2 wheel
rear drive, I read it was engagable, so I assume that means it can be a
single rear drive since I get no snow, and I sure wouldn't take this great
looking thing into the mud. :)

I think they are great... but don't pay twelve grand. Like Dennis says, they can be bought much, much cheaper. I have lusted after them for years.

They seem EXTREMELY unreliable. As "neat" as it would be to have a sidecar, I think I could spend more to get something I could ride w/o working on it all the time or wondering if it was going to leave me stranded at the Sonic down road from my house.

I think there are probably better options out there, but they are neat.

Why are they unreliable? The new models have regular name brand carbs, Good electronic componets, Japanese I think? 2 year warranty
What goes out in them to say that? I know nothing about them.

Looks like a hoot to own. Dealer here had a fire engine red model. Nice looking! and paint looked thick like a Harley.

I met this couple in Linwood while waiting for the ferry. The Mrs. was driving. Mr. was leaning way over for right hand corner when we got off the ferry so he was into it. She said they had it for 2 years, loved and were going trail riding next week. Cliff.

Test rode one several years ago; pretty crude and a sidecar rig doesn't feel like a motorcycle at all! Thought it would be great in light snow, however.

Hopped off and immediately tested a Royal Enfield. NOW THAT WAS FUN!
