A friend has an 01, final drive went out, he was quoted 2000 for parts, does anyone know if they use the final drive from a GL1500 for a trike build, if it is not used, are they available ? and would it fit his bike.
Thanks

> Yes, trike builders commonly dispose of the final drives.
> The 1500's final drive is totally different than the 1800's

First off, you can buy a complete final drive assy. for $1000 and anyone that can get the rear wheel off can change it out.

Second, any mechanic worthy of being called a mechanic can rebuild the final drive for $500 in parts and 3 hours or so labor.

Last, you can buy one off Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-H...6678114QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Roll the dice on a used unit or pay a grand for a new one, your call. Stay away from the dealer that wanted the 2K.
