Does the TPMS valve stem take a special valve core, or will any core work?

Don't know if it takes a spiecial valve or not but I will tell you don't use the rubber 90 degree core. I did and it left me along side of the highway untill I got a trailer to pick it up.

Yes it does. Cores are made the same style but made of a different metal. You want to use the same metal type. Different metal you could have electrolysis and same could corrode and seize were you could not add air or remove.

Just to clarify... Don't use the TPMS sensors attached to 90 degree valve stems? Or don't use 90 degree valve stems at all?

I've got those 90s on mine and they haven't given me any trouble but I have heard of some people having the rubber portion crack and causing the tire to leak. Seriously considering using the metal ones...
